The CerOrganic consortium organises the second European Conference “Organic Agriculture & Education: Challenges in Training Advisors of organic farmers”, raising the awareness of the stakeholders in the agricultural sector about the design and implementation of competence-based curriculum for advisors’ and experts’ training in organic agriculture topics, the blended learning approach in professional training of organic farmers and the assessment process for the quality assurance vocational education and training in organic agriculture.

The CerOrganic Pilot Training of Trainers Programme took place between the 8th of May and the 12th of June 2011. This innovative blended-leaning training, included two periods of distance learning operated through the CerOrganic Web Portal (http://www.cerorganic.moleportal.eu), plus a week-long summer school held at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania from the 23rd – 18th May 2011. Thirty-nine trainees from throughout Europe, together with the seventeen CerOrganic tutors, many of whom are recognized experts in their subject, participated in the training. The International Conference on “IT-Enhanced Organic, Agro-Ecological & Environmental Education” was held in Budapest, Hungary on 16-17 September, 2010. This conference focused on Learning Methodologies in Agriculture, especially on Organic Agriculture and Ecology. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) innovations were presented as well, through which the aforementioned methodologies could be proved beneficial for many stakeholders of various areas and activities.

CerOrganic was presented in this conference and a lot of information about the project was provided along with the dissemination material.

On Wednesday, December 8th 2010, the 3rd day of the Organic.Balkanet meeting will host a joint workshop with Organic.Mednet (http://www.organic-mednet.eu) and CerOrganic LdV projects will be held at the premises of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA, Library Lecture Hall). The workshop aims to provide a meeting and discussion point for scientists specialists from all over Europe, who deal with the educational and training aspects of the Organic Agriculture area.

The partners of CerOrganic were met in Prague in the framework of the third Consortium Meeting. The event was hosted in the premises of UZEI during 4-5 November 2010. Partners had a fruitful interaction which resulted in the updated work plan. Discussion also focused at the design and development of the Training of Trainers in Organic Agriculture.
